Burton A. Rose has been a criminal defense attorney, representing individuals in criminal cases and investigations, since 1972. He has taught and lectured law students and attorneys in appellate advocacy and white collar crime. He has written articles concerning the practice of criminal law. Burt has also appeared numerous times over the years on televison and radio as an analyst of courtroom proceedings.

Burt was born and raised in North Philadelphia. After graduating from Temple University in Philadelphia with a degree in Political Science in 1968, Burt attended Temple University School of Law and graduated in 1971. He then appreniced for A. Charles Peruto, Pennsylvania's leading trial lawyer. Mr. Rose and Mr. Peruto practiced law side by side for 30 consecutive years.

Burt was awarded the Justice Thurgood Marshall Award in 1995 from the Philadelphia Bar Association, Criminal Justice Section, where he has served as chair, and was chosen as one of Philadelphia Magazine's Pennsylvania "Superlawyers" (appellate practice) in 2004 and 2005.

Currently, Burton A. Rose practices law in Pennsylvania, mainly in Philadelphia , where he specializes in complex criminal and appellate matters. He has been a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association for more than thirty years, and served as a member of its Board of Governors for several terms. He also chaired the Criminal Law Committee of the Federal Bar Association's Eastern District of Pennsylvania Chapter for two terms and, prior to that, served as vice chair and secretary. He has been a member of the Chapter's Executive Committee since 1992. He has also been a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 1991, serving on its Editorial Board for three years.

Rose's appointments include the Appellate Court Rules Committee of Pennsylvania Supreme Court (1992-1998), where he served as chair of two subcommittees, and the American Arbitration Association Panel of Neutral Arbitrators (1993-1999).

Burton A. Rose has been an active member of Golden Slipper Club & Charities since 1981. He was honored with the title of President of the Organization in winter of 2005.
